Good to know

Registered charities only, and you cannot be funded in two rounds in a row. Accounts must be signed by a chartered accountant, and audited above $12,000.

Two rounds a year, normally 1 January to 15 February and 1 July to 15 August.

Checklist

What ANZ Staff Foundation says you need:

• Registered charity
• Latest annual accounts signed by chair and a chartered accountant
• Audited accounts if asking for more than $12,000
• Management accounts if annual accounts are over six months old
• External referee

Common things funders ask for, worth having ready:

• What exactly is the money for, and when will you spend it?
• How much do you need, and do you have quotes under three months old?
• Who benefits, and how many people?
• Your legal name, registration number and bank account in the group's name.
• A committee or board decision approving the application (some funders want a signed resolution).
• Your latest financial statements or annual return.
• Other funders you have applied to for the same thing.
