What it funds

• Arts and cultural activities
• Salaries and venue hire (usually three months per application)

What it will not fund

• Retrospective purchases or events (including deposits)
• Alcohol, food, entertainment or refreshments
• Fundraising events
• Fuel or mileage
• Predominantly social groups/events
• Unfilled positions

Good to know

Each monthly close is for money needed about two to four months later. Some of its pages say applications close on the last working day of the month instead; we show the 25th, the earlier date. Food, refreshments and fundraising events are not funded.

Applications close on the 25th of each month for the committee meeting the month after; funded from the start of the month after that. Max 4 applications per financial year, 1 per month.

Checklist

What Four Winds says you need:

• Operating at least 12 months
• Signed current financial statements
• Resolution naming Four Winds, amount and purpose, under 3 months old
• Declaration of Consent signed by two officers

Common things funders ask for, worth having ready:

• What exactly is the money for, and when will you spend it?
• How much do you need, and do you have quotes under three months old?
• Who benefits, and how many people?
• Your legal name, registration number and bank account in the group's name.
• A committee or board decision approving the application (some funders want a signed resolution).
• Your latest financial statements or annual return.
• Other funders you have applied to for the same thing.
