What it funds

• Travel to national champs or regional events
• Inter-school competitions
• Individual players, coaches or officials

Good to know

You apply through your local council, not Sport NZ, and only travel to regular local games counts.

Each participating council runs its own round; check your local council page for dates.

Checklist

What Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund says you need:

• Rural sport club team or school club team with members aged 5 to 18
• Competing in regular local competition outside school time
• Proof of purchases and receipts to the council

Common things funders ask for, worth having ready:

• What exactly is the money for, and when will you spend it?
• How much do you need, and do you have quotes under three months old?
• Who benefits, and how many people?
• Your legal name, registration number and bank account in the group's name.
• A committee or board decision approving the application (some funders want a signed resolution).
• Your latest financial statements or annual return.
• Other funders you have applied to for the same thing.
